Extasiege’s FFVII: Crisis Core Saved File

It’s official. I have gone beyond the limits of my own multimedia delusion that I am now sharing my Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Saved File because I believe in the relevance of my own digital celebrity status.

This is one of those shit why people say were gay, guys.

"This is one of those shit why people say we're gay, guys."

Ok, let me be clear about this. I’m not claiming you should download my saved file because it’s the best, it’s the most awesome, it totally pwns. It’s not. My gameplay’s pretty mediocre, pwnage wise. I’m sharing it with you guys simply in the spirit of generosity and for the sake of discussion. It’s not an awesome gameplay.

However, there are pretty neat stuff I’ve acquired through the process of exploring this FFVII prequel for the PSP. For one thing, I’ve managed to unlock the Genji Armor (so, that means the DMW’s complete as well). The HP booster I’ve fused with a Curaga materia’s not bad either at 7++%, and Zack’s at LVL 8+, and the Mission Mode’s 87% complete. There’s still A LOT OF ROOM for exploring before you finish the story mode (which I finished back when I was level 40-something. Genesis –the final boss, duh– is a pushover, so there’s no snag in unlocking the New Game+ mode).

Besides, it’s THE gameplay of, eherm, THE Siege Malvar. That amounts to something, I hope. It’s worth checking out, at least.

And over at Jam Online, Jerome Ancheta has posted the trailers for two new Final Fantasy installments: Final Fantasy versus XIII and Final Fantasy agito XIII.

The Final Fantasy versus XIII trailer looks pretty awesome, innit?  It’ll be out on the PS3 soon. Well, it looks awesome because it’s a cinematic trailer. Can’t wait to see the gameplay trailer, though. The trailer offers no clue as to the new gameplay, whether they’re going to implement a new system, or a hybrid of the old ones (the DMW, the ATB, etc). FFversusXIII looks like it’s set on a futuristic world with elements of fantasy in the undercurrent. So far, the FFVII series of games is the only installment in the franchise that plays with the neo-gothic feel of a science-fictional millieu, and I don’t know if you agree with me, but the FFVIII was an all-out cowboy romance to be categorized in any coherent genre.

Vintage RTS Games

Recently, the 3rd installment in the RTS game that has taken the whole world for its playground has been released. Command and Conquer 3 is now available commercially, and I would love to try it have my laptop been able to. Unfortunately, beloved as it may be, my laptop’s pretty ancient. I’ve had it for the past two years, and that converts to 27 in gadget years.

But, I was in the mood for global domination, so I installed two ancient RTS titles on my laptop last week. One of them’s The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth and the other’s Emperor: Battle for Dune.

Now, as great series, nay, stalwarts, in the genre of fantastic fiction, I love both Tolkien’s Middle-Earth and Herbert’s Arrakis. However, I have to admit, I’m a bit disappointed with the two games, and I was trying to look beyond the graphics.

I love the veterancy system in LOTR: BFME. Sortof gives you a sense of continuity. I feel constrained, though, with its limited space for building infrastructure. The hero system’s cool in the sense that you can play the awesome LOTR characters from the book, but unlike the heroes in Warcraft III, you can’t really trust them to lead your troops all by themselves.  I think I’ll give this another try by playing LOTR: BFME 2, its sequel.

Emperor: Battle for Dune is disappointing. I’ve searched for this game for a long time, and it’s not available anymore in our friendly, neighborhood digital pirates. No one’s sharing this via torrents, too. I got lucky one time, and saw a torrent of it somewhere, but then, it took me MONTHS to finish downloading. Which just goes to show how many people have it.

For a rabid fanboi of Dune and RTS games, this is a big let down. The controls are wonky, the units aren’t that awesome, the maps are dull (well, the author made the desert planet of Arrakis seem hauntingly beautiful and terrifying, so why couldn’t the developers take a page from that book?), and the AI is annoying. The AI’s strategy seems to be Send Them As Soon As We Made Them, so, while you’re trying to build your base, the AI’s units just kept coming and coming, and as long as you have a defensive structure or a counter-unit waiting nearby, you’re well and good.

Anyway, I might remove these two games from my system sometime soon, and look for other vintage titles to try out. Or, maybe, I should just tear myself away from playing games, and get some actual work done. Yeah, that can do.

Endgame for Siege in London

Hello, everyone! Today is my last day here in the United Kingdom. I’ll be flying back home in a couple of hours, and although I’ll be on air technically for just 16 hours, the time difference and the longitudinal crossing costs me an entire day (24 hours and 45 minutes, actually!) to travel.

Anyway, first, I just want to apologize for the disappointment I’ve caused with the rarity of my postings. I haven’t been posting as often as I should, and I’ve been monitoring the traffic to this blog regularly, and I see regular visitors flocking in. I apologize because you’re giving your time to check out my blog, and the least I can do is give you something to read, but I failed at that. Sorry.

Well, I’m not saying this gives me an excuse, but I do have my reasons. First, I’ve been really, really, really busy being part of the world’s geekiest rockband. I toured the UK with a bunch of other artists from Asia and London, performing in different cities. Rarely did we stop for more than 2 days in any place in our tour, and althought it was absofuckinglutely awesome, it was physically exhausting as well.

Second, I uninstalled all my games in my laptop because I can’t be distracted from what I’m doing here. PLUS, my laptop can’t play DEKARON. OOOh, shock of shock. The truth is, my Toshiba Satellite laptop is struggling with Dekaron’s specs which is why I sneak off my sister’s laptop (an Acer Inspire, I think) just so I can enjoy “the most motherfuckin bad-ass video game experience online”, according to various sources).

Anyway, now that I’m going back to the Philippines, I’ll be able to start playing video games again, and perhaps, I’ll start blogging about them as well.

Well… let’s, see how motivated I will be in the next couple of days. I don’t wanna sound like a dick, but you have to realize that blogging takes some of my precious writing time, writing time I can spend writing something else, something like the sequel to my successful novel, so in essence, blogging actually costs me money. You may think writing is easy because you get to do it sitting down, but if you do think that way, you obviously hasn’t written anything decent in your life.

———

Anyway, I was walking along Trafalgar Square one day, when I came across a big gathering. Lavish tents were set-up, and a stage was smack in the middle for bands and artists to perform in. A man handed me a flyer, and I realized, I’ve just walked into the London Game Fest!

How awesome is that?

EA games had set up all these activity booths for gamers to enjoy. There were several spots for testing their game titles, including some activity areas for non-gamers to experience what it’s like to play EA Games.

The best part? It’s absolutely FREE!

See, last time I came to a gaming event in the Philippines, I had to pay for a magazine, or buy some of their in-game credits. That sucks. I’ve worked in the gaming industry before, in the marketing aspect of it, and the truth is, events are held to promote the titles in order to achieve certain objectives (like brand retention, consumer conversion, etc) which would then translate to revenue for the company. It shouldn’t be a milking cow to earn a couple of bucks just because kids are willing to pay for it. It’s madness, really. There are structures that the organizers can take, such as looking for co-sponsors to shoulder the expenses, without making the consumers pay extra just to see some crappy “cosplay fashion show” where the same bunch of skanky ugly betties win everytime anyway. That’s like having to pay just to watch advertisements starring Tado in a bikini.

What do you think? Should game publishers extract exorbitant fees just to let people participate in their events? Do you think a gaming event will be more successful if it’s free? I’d like to hear what you think.

Reporting a Scam or Hack Case

Hello, everyone! See, one of the perks in working in a gaming company is that I get to see how they work. As I’ve been managing the SNS accounts, and blogsites for mobiusgames, I’ve also been tracking the traffic, and trends that lead people into our games.

As I’ve recently discovered, people discover my blogs when they key in “how to report scam/ how to report hack” in search engines. Also, in our Friendster.com Profile, a lot of players send me messages asking the same thing: how can one report a case when they got victimized by a scam, or a hack?

So, to help you guys, gals, and gays, I’m posting this.

This is a transcript of a call. Last night, when I got home, I decided to call our games support hotline. The Games Support Specialist who took my call was a friend of mine, so I had to change my voice a little during the entire conversation. It was the hardest 30mins of my acting career! Hahaha… I actually had to pause in several points of the conversation because I was trying to stop myself from laughing out loud. Anyway, let’s just hide my friend’s name, and refer to her as “Purplepony”. That is not her real name, obviously.

Enjoy:

The following events happened between 1800hrs and 1830hrs.

Extasiege: boy_bastos

Purplepony: ok sir. thank you for the information. anong game po nilalaro ninyo? mu or rakion?

Purplepony: ok. unanhin natin sa mu. so last month ka nascam.. saang server ka ng lalaro

Purplepony: titan bahr ion or muren?

Extasiege: opo.

Purplepony: ok sir unfortunately since last month pa po ito di na natin marerecover yung nascam na item mo kasi last month pa po siya

Purplepony: and wala po tayong support for muren server

Purplepony: para sa scam pwede pa natin marecover yan as long as items yung kapalit

Purplepony: tapos dapat item to item yung trade
