Endgame for Siege in London

Hello, everyone! Today is my last day here in the United Kingdom. I’ll be flying back home in a couple of hours, and although I’ll be on air technically for just 16 hours, the time difference and the longitudinal crossing costs me an entire day (24 hours and 45 minutes, actually!) to travel.

Anyway, first, I just want to apologize for the disappointment I’ve caused with the rarity of my postings. I haven’t been posting as often as I should, and I’ve been monitoring the traffic to this blog regularly, and I see regular visitors flocking in. I apologize because you’re giving your time to check out my blog, and the least I can do is give you something to read, but I failed at that. Sorry.

Well, I’m not saying this gives me an excuse, but I do have my reasons. First, I’ve been really, really, really busy being part of the world’s geekiest rockband. I toured the UK with a bunch of other artists from Asia and London, performing in different cities. Rarely did we stop for more than 2 days in any place in our tour, and althought it was absofuckinglutely awesome, it was physically exhausting as well.

Second, I uninstalled all my games in my laptop because I can’t be distracted from what I’m doing here. PLUS, my laptop can’t play DEKARON. OOOh, shock of shock. The truth is, my Toshiba Satellite laptop is struggling with Dekaron’s specs which is why I sneak off my sister’s laptop (an Acer Inspire, I think) just so I can enjoy “the most motherfuckin bad-ass video game experience online”, according to various sources).

Anyway, now that I’m going back to the Philippines, I’ll be able to start playing video games again, and perhaps, I’ll start blogging about them as well.

Well… let’s, see how motivated I will be in the next couple of days. I don’t wanna sound like a dick, but you have to realize that blogging takes some of my precious writing time, writing time I can spend writing something else, something like the sequel to my successful novel, so in essence, blogging actually costs me money. You may think writing is easy because you get to do it sitting down, but if you do think that way, you obviously hasn’t written anything decent in your life.

———

Anyway, I was walking along Trafalgar Square one day, when I came across a big gathering. Lavish tents were set-up, and a stage was smack in the middle for bands and artists to perform in. A man handed me a flyer, and I realized, I’ve just walked into the London Game Fest!

How awesome is that?

EA games had set up all these activity booths for gamers to enjoy. There were several spots for testing their game titles, including some activity areas for non-gamers to experience what it’s like to play EA Games.

The best part? It’s absolutely FREE!

See, last time I came to a gaming event in the Philippines, I had to pay for a magazine, or buy some of their in-game credits. That sucks. I’ve worked in the gaming industry before, in the marketing aspect of it, and the truth is, events are held to promote the titles in order to achieve certain objectives (like brand retention, consumer conversion, etc) which would then translate to revenue for the company. It shouldn’t be a milking cow to earn a couple of bucks just because kids are willing to pay for it. It’s madness, really. There are structures that the organizers can take, such as looking for co-sponsors to shoulder the expenses, without making the consumers pay extra just to see some crappy “cosplay fashion show” where the same bunch of skanky ugly betties win everytime anyway. That’s like having to pay just to watch advertisements starring Tado in a bikini.

What do you think? Should game publishers extract exorbitant fees just to let people participate in their events? Do you think a gaming event will be more successful if it’s free? I’d like to hear what you think.

Got Balls, Will Crush

If anyone’s curious, here’s my GONG! schedule:

Monday to Friday, I play GONG! before I doze off to sleep. I usually create a room in the ALL Division. This way, I can get to play with GONG!sters from all levels. I start off with a random map, and then move through the different maps. I usually call it the “Tour of Asia” room, and I encourage GONG!sters who join me to stay for the whole tour. It’s more fun that way, like we’re on a virtual World Cup.

Also, I don’t give away items, and there’s no prize in defeating me (except for that sense of self-worth and smugness that you get for pawning a [GM] character). If you’re playing with me for material gain, please check out this page instead. The GONG!sters team are constantly coming up with events and promos to keep everyone happy, so watch out for those!

What I really like about GONG! is that it’s cleverly designed so that you won’t bother using bots and cheats to play the game. If you try cheating, or using a 3rd party program in GONG!, you miss out on all the fun! So, what’s the point, right? GONG! is a game you play for the LuLz of it.

See you on the field!

Behold!

It’s the upcoming new set of items for the hottest strategic action mmog in the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia!

So far, the Rakion blog from team mobiusgames hints that the new patch will have themed sets for all character classes. No word yet on their prices, and availability. There are hints that the new set items will come with a new patch that’s going to be called “A Whole New World” or “Aladdin”, they’re still being mysterious about it.

So, Rakionistas, alert. Blurk (blog lurking, hehehe) around the I Hug Noobs blog for more details and updates!

Hmm, any comments on the new set items?

Wala lang

Wala lang. Trip lang. Hi, hello, sa lahat ng mga nagbabasa ng blog na to (Yes, I’m referring to all three of you, hekhekhek).

Dahil loyal kayong tagasubaybay, may surprise ako sa inyo. Super secret to ha. Click nyo yung link sa baba to read more.

Team I.W.C. > FTW! > DotA Tourney Champs, Chumps

It pays to pwn. It pays to pwn.

Congratulations, Team I.W.C. for winning the GG Blitz Tourney!!!

Sometime this month, I got to meet Team I.W.C. when they came over the office to pick up their prize. So yun, ni-chat up ko muna sila together with GM Ravynn who managed the tournament. We brought them to the mobiusgamesdme Game Room (well, see, this is where it gets confusing; the entire floor’s one big frigging game room, see, but in the middle of our floor, there’s this glass enclosed area where the mobiusgames team can take a break from all the gaming that we do by playing, uhm, more videogames. ).

So, according to Jonas, who led them to victory, nabuo ang “Team I.W.C.” when he posted an invitation as forums nila to join our tournament. Most of them hails from Laguna, tapos may mga members sila sa Antipolo, Muntinlupa, and Tondo.

Jonas is a nursing student, and he has his eyes set on joining the gaming industry. I think that’s great! He certainly has the organizational skills to manage a team, and he has the passion for games.

Oh, ang kukulit nga pala nila. They gave us a description of themselves para hindi tayo mahirapan i-identify sila sa picture. Here’s Team I.W.C.:

Johnasis Kalugdan – “Kamukha ni Manny Pacquiao na kumuha ng pera.”
Rodney Aguinaldo – “Mapayat na matankad na kamukha ni Jose Rizal.”
Junelle Christian – “Ung matabang maputi.”
Riden Pireras – “Payatot w/ Anime buhok Intsik.”
John Nikko Lopez – “Matankad na mukhang matanda pero bata pa.”

Napaka-helpful ng mga descriptions nila. Parang cartographic profiling lang ng mga wanted for kidnapping. Ang saya.

Onga pala, “Team I.W.C.” stands for “Team I W.O.N. Clan”. At “Team I W.O.N. Clan” naman stands for “I Was Once a Newbie Clan”. O diba, pa-expand-ng-pa-expand ang pangalan. So, to recap, ang nanalo talaga ay ang “Team I Was Once a Newbie Clan” or “Team I W.O.N. Clan” for short, and “Team I.W.C.” for shorter. “.” na lang for shortest.

Congrats uli, mga katropa!

Till next tourney!!!

MU Philippines – 4 Years, and Still Playing Strong

O, baka sabihin nyo, puro GONG! GONG! GONG! lang alam kong i-blog. Hehehe… Actually, I’ve been playing MU, Rakion, EVE Online, and GONG! for a long time now. Eto nga pala ang character ko sa MU Philippines:

Youre not gonna give me the ole anal probe trick, are ya?

"You're not gonna give me the ole' anal probe trick, are ya?"

At eto naman ang aking pilot sa EVE Online:

I got a PACKAGE for ya.

Yun nga lang, wala pa akong screenshot ng character ko sa Rakion. Hindi kasi automatically nasasave eh, dapat ipaste sa Paint. I’ll make one soon, sige, para makita nyo naman. Hehehe…

Nga pala, may character rin ako sa MUREN, I’m planning on something na tied with this blog eh. Parang blogging + role playing adventure. I’m still thinking about it.

Ampogi ko.
